Christmas Cheer wrapping up Thursday, December 14th! Cheer wrapping up Thursday, December 14th! <p></p><p>First, a HUGE thank-you to all for your overwhelming support of our WE Day & our GREEN Team led initiatives to help those less fortunate. This year, the Green Team "Fill a Bag" event was a success leading to a Christmas Cheer donation by $194.00! Our WE Day team has wrapped up the "Shoe Box" campaign – shipping over 89 boxes (smashing our goal of 25) filled with gifts to communities on the shores of James Bay in Northern Ontario. What a heartwarming display of Hyde Park kindness this was!!! Now we are on to Christmas Cheer! This campaign will wrap up this Thursday, December 14th!!!! Please see below for more details. </p><p>The Free the Children Team is happy to announce our participation in the Barrie and District Christmas Cheer Campaign again this year. Over 1800 families in our community are in need this holiday season. Our campaign for non-perishable food items, new unwrapped toys or cash donations kicked off on November 27th and will run for a little over two weeks. All items must be at the school by Thursday December 14th in order to be packed and ready for pick up on the 15th . Some of the items needed include; canned goods (soup, meats, stews, pasta sauces, vegetables and fruits), dry foods (cereal, cake mixes, pasta, rice, dry soup mixes), candy, jello, pudding, baby formula, toilet paper, paper towel, diapers and Kleenex. New unwrapped toys for all ages (fewer toys are donated in the past for babies and teenagers). Canadian Tire money to buy toys can be donated and cash donations are always helpful. Please make sure that you watch the expiration dates on the food items you send in and please avoid sending in items in glass bottles. Together the Hyde Park Community is going to make a difference in the lives of some local Barrie families this holiday season.</p>
